Dec. 10, 2005 - (noon) Elementary Schools Christmas Concert
Feb. 20, 2006 - (Hillcrest High School) Presidents'  Day Concert featuring Hillcrest High's Instrumental Department

The Midvale Arts Council will present a free concert Friday, October 14, 2005 at 7:30 pm at the Midvale Performing Arts Center 695 West Center Street (7720 South) featuring Lee Fugal.

Lee Fugal brings a delightful musical mix of Piano, Brass, his own, unique hilarious "musical inventions" and arrangements of multiple instruments such as 3 trumpets at once.

He is an accomplished musician and will be using his "Ten Fingered Fireworks" at the piano to play both popular and lesser-known novelty songs (along with some favorites from the audience) that will please young and old alike. Lee's clever concoction of wonderful piano music, audience participation, (all very clean and in good taste!), his "inventions" and multiple instruments (all played expertly) and his impersonations of musical legends such as Louis Armstrong will add up to a delicious recipe for musical artistry and merriment.

Lee's performance credits include three years at Disneyland's Golden Horseshoe Review, four years as a special events entertainer at Knott's, several performance tours of Europe and Asia, and featured guest entertainer for several major cruise lines. He is booked to entertain on an upcoming cruise to Mexico, Belize and Honduras. Prior cruises have included Hawaii, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Bali.

This concert is presented in conjunction with the Utah Arts Council's Performing Arts Tour.  For more information contact Suzanne Walker at 567-0087 or producer_suzanne@msn.com

Hall of Honors Nominations

In 1983, Midvale City established its Hall of Honors to recognize "native (or adopted) sons and daughters of Midvale who have made significant contributions to Midvale and/or those whose accomplishments and achievements have brought fame and recognition to Midvale as a community." Since inception, 33 individuals and 6 service organizations have been inducted into the Hall of Honors. Induction into the Hall of Honors is a great honor and tribute for the inductees and is one small way to recognize some of Midvale’s finest citizens.

A reception is held each year during Harvest Days to recognize and honor the current year’s inductee. A plaque honoring the inductee is also placed in the Hall of Honors Room at City Hall. If you haven’t had the chance, drop by City Hall and visit the Hall of Honors Room to read the plaques of previous inductees and feel of the great heritage they have created in our community.

Nomination forms for this year’s Hall of Honors inductee are now available at City Hall. We encourage all citizens to look around them and take the time to nominate individuals in the community who have made significant contributions to our wonderful city. Nomination forms must be returned to City Hall by June 1st.

Basic rules governing the nomination process:

  • Nominee must be a native or adopted son/daughter of Midvale
  • Members of the Arts Council and elected city officials are ineligible, while in office
  • Nominees can be individuals, couples, or groups
  • One nominee will be selected by the Arts Council for induction each year
  • Nominees should be living or recently deceased
  • Nominees will remain on the nomination list for five years from the time of initial nomination (unless inducted in the interim)
  • The Hall of Honors is truly a great way to recognize those individuals around us who make our community great. Please take the time to nominate a worthy individual in our community for induction into the Hall of Honors.
